Trying Something New, But I'm Lazy So We Will Play It By Ear

So, I noticed that lately I've been getting several new pinterest followers. So instead of assuming that with the newest updates that this is a normal occurrence, I am opting to believe that I am so awesome and creative (and sarcastic) that people cant help but follow me and wonder if I actually ever do any of this stuff in real life. So I decided (while ignoring my husbands eye rolling) to blog about it, so normal people can see how another normal person attempts some of the ideas accumulating on my boards.

As long as I can figure out how to attach the pins, and add pictures (I may need help) I'm going to try my best to honestly show how easy or complicated some of my pins are. If you want to browse and see what all I find interesting my pinterest link is here.

I'm also willing to share in my defeats and celebrate my successes :) And all of my frustrations that a "normal" person can't actually afford madagascar vanilla beans soaked in vodka for 3 years or whatever.

Here we go, last week, I threw a 3rd birthday party for our daughter Cora. We usually only do huge parties for a kids first birthday, but we are currently in the process of adopting her, so technically this was our first opportunity to celebrate her birthday! I may or may not have gone a little overboard with the princess theme of choice :) However, since she is our 4th child, cost was also a factor. I came across this pin and thought it would be easy and cheap! Here is their picture:

Here is mine:

I thought it turned out pretty well! I didn't actually look at the pin before I attempted this, and it would have been a lot simpler if I had. Not to mention the yelling I did under my breath when I couldn't get the tape to stick to my fireplace screen. The pin didn't have any actual advice on stringing the balloons, so I had to improvise. I used my husbands neglected fishing line and a needle to string all of the balloons, making one long line. then I just taped it up on wither side of the mantle. Easy Peasy! Lots of scotch tape was used, I anchored it in between each color, but it stayed up for the whole party with no problem.

I hope this made sense to everyone, feel free to comment if you have any questions! And I hope I loaded the pictures right because it wont load a preview for me, so I'm going to cross my fingers and hit publish!
